What’s Race Got to Do with It?

A timely conversation about Jews, race, racism and growing up Black in the Providence Jewish community.

Please join Lexi and Deborah Kutenplon on June 23rd at 7:30 pm. Lexi will speak about her own experiences growing up Black in the Rhode Island Jewish community.

This conversation will offer a safe space for asking questions, for learning and for sharing ideas about race and racism.

Lexi Kutenplon is a 24-year-old Black Jew who grew up in Providence and Barrington.  She was a member of Congregation Beth Sholom and Temple Emanu El.  She participated in March of the Living, Birthright, HaZamir and JCC camps.

Deborah Kutenplon is her mother and also the mother of 2 other young adults who are both Black and Jewish.  Deborah is a nurse midwife who teaches maternal-newborn nursing at RI College.  Judaism, social justice and diversity are driving passions in her life.
