Core Connects RI Elul Art Program

Artist/educator Nancy Katz will facilitate a creative and fun art project to assist us in preparing for the upcoming High Holiday season

The Jewish month of Elul is traditionally a time for personal reflection and spiritual preparation for the New Year. It’s a time to think about our relationships— with ourselves, others in our lives, & the Divine Presence/Gd.

Our intention for our time together on September 2nd is that we allocate a window of space and time for each of us to focus on those relationships by using simple art materials. Being together as a group while still in our own spaces provides us with support to venture on our personal journey.

We will provide you with 3 blank mixed media postcards and some materials with which to embellish them—- 3 “mini-canvases” to be used to explore and/or direct thoughts and feelings.

If it makes sense to send off your creation to those to whom your piece is directed, we encourage you to do so, as these cards are made to travel though the mail.

Additionally you will receive a simple frame which can house a postcard. It is open on two sides, allowing for viewing the artwork on one side and writing (or anything else) on the other. This can serve as a totem of your intention for the New Year.

Our hope is for a sweet time to be together to play with art materials as we head towards Rosh Hashanah.

All the supplies will be distributed before the event so we can do the project together on Zoom from our own homes.
